Fondata nel settembre 1996 come Imagine Games Network, la società gestiva cinque diversi siti web, mwhgN64.com, mwhwPSXPower, mwiaSaturnworld, mwiqNext-Generation.com e mwigUltra Game Players Online.cite-ref-origini-3-0[3] Nel 1998 i primi tre diventarono canali del nuovo sito e del nuovo marchio, mwjwIGN.com.cite-ref-origini-3-1[3] Nel settembre del 2005 IGN venne acquisito da mwlaNews Corporation.cite-ref-origini-3-2[3]
